ABOUT THIS EVENT

Maritimes-Guatemala Breaking the Silence Network invites you to attend our 2023 Annual Gathering, SOLIDARITY IN A TIME OF CRISIS. We are so pleased that we are now able to reconnect in person with a BTS partner, Jesus Tecu Osorio, founder of the Rabinal Community Legal Clinic and the New Hope Foundation. It is also a great opportunity to meet our new BTS Maritimes Coordinator in person, Arturo Ezquerro-Canete. Our Guatemala staff members, Lisa Rankin (returning for the summer), Maria Reyes and Martha Schmitz, will join us by Zoom, as will our Cooperants, Sabrina Jeia and Raphael Freston.

Over more than three decades, the Annual Gathering has been fundamental to our continued solidarity, building in-person relationships with our partners in Guatemala struggling for justice and BTS members. Join us May 26th-28th as we renew these connections and build new relationships within the BTS community.

And of course, there will be time for community building and a Saturday night fiesta!

Your participation matters, in this time of crisis for human rights and environmental rights defenders. We hope to have as many BTS members and supporters as possible, as we welcome back Jesus.. So please come to make or renew connections, get updated on struggles in Guatemala and Mi’kmaki, and be inspired to ongoing support and action.

Bursaries are provided by the Breaking the Silence Network. We sell Guatemalan crafts and BTS coffee during the year to ensure that all who support BTS are able to attend. Please do not stay away because of a lack of funds! We need you! However, it is helpful for you to pay a portion of the cost, if you are able.

To receive a bursary please enter one of the promo codes when you buy a ticket to reduce your program cost. (Please cut and paste code).
